Matter

Friday 22nd of November all the year 6s from room 9 did a scientific learning of what matter is 
we found that matter is made up of tiny, tiny particals, and learning about how these particals behave is called chemistry and the three states if matter was Solid, Liquid and Gas. all the solids of matter we found were table, tree, car and rock all the Liqiud's of matter were coffee, coke, paint, orange juice and water and all the Gas's of matter were air and oxygen. afer we had done that we had to grab a tube, a half of paper towel and a container/sink of water. when we got our tube and half of paper towel we had to stuff the paper towel down the tube carefully and put the tube upside down in a bucket of water. Then we had to discuss what we saw, is the paper towel wet?, why doesn't the water fill the tube and then we discuss our conclusion to everyone. once we had done all that we had to try and find a way of how to get the paper towel out of tube, at the very start when we got our tube we had to predict if the air would take up space or not i predicted that air does not take up space but air does take up space, and that is what we learnt about Matter.

Inventions

My invention that I have been working on was the Microwave oven, and did you know that they were able to transmit information from place to another place I think that's cool I wish they were still able to do that hen I could just send a package to Australia or Balclutha when ever I want. Tha first microwave oven built was 6 feet tall and weighed 750 pounds which is the size of you fridge and also cost $5,000  I wouldn't want that microwave because it would be to big. The microwave oven was built in 1946 and the person that built thus microwave oven was Percy Spencer, he built the microwave by an accident because it wasn't originally built to cook food. The microwave oven was built to  sense radio waves and other things,the first food that got microwaved was Percy Spencer's chocolate bar from his pocket, but the first food that got delibriatly microwaved was popcorn. That is my information about a microwave oven.

Tsampa

Some where around china there is a place called Tibet and their fast food in that country Is tsampa, roasted barley flour. In Tibet Tibetans make their own runny tsampa dish and this is how you can make some.

Ingredients:

Cheese

Sugar

Butter

Roasted barley flour

Black tea or hot water

Tsampa 

Step1: Put the black tea or hot water into a bowl, and drink about a third of the bowl.

Step2:While the tea is still hot you melt the butter in the tea. Then you add some tsampa.

Step3:On top of the pile of tsampa add some cheeses that has been made from dried milk curd.

Step4:It will then look like tiny gold brown pebbles. Last of all you add the sugar.

Step5:Then comes the tricky part. If your not used to it you may end up worth tsampa all over your knees. With your finger, you Press the tsampa down to bring all the tea and butter up around the flour.  Then slowly you work the mixture round and round until it's like biscuit dough.

Step6:Finally you break a piece off roll in up into a ball in the palm of your hands and pop it into your mouth. It's nutty, crunchy and sweet. 

Year 6 Camp

For year six camp we are going to Queenstown and Nicole comes from their and its going to feel like she is back home for me it will feel like a holiday most of the year sixes can't wait for camp like me I can't wait for camp I wish we already their right now and we can combine it with year five camp. Before we go we have to pay off or pay for our camp by selling chocolates or just panning with your own money.    Hope we have a great time at camp:)

About My Family

In my family I have 6 people & 7 pets. My mums name is Sarina , my dads name is Riki ,my step dads name is Nathan ,my sisters names are Samelliah and Tingah and my brothers name is Ja-zel. My mum is 28 turning 29 this year my step dad is 35 jazel is 8 Samelliah and Tingah are 3&4  and I am 11.

Reuben Paterson Glitter Art Work

In my class we have been doing Reuben Paterson glitter art and we were allowed to choose from 3 colours I got to use 5, the colours I chose were black, silver, light blue, red and gold for my back ground. Others have chosen 5 colours as well because Miss Edgerton let them but everyone else just used 3 colours. I had to use 5 colours because there wasn't much of the other colours I  was usingdoing  glitterart was fun and i finished my one  on monday the 1st of july.

Persuisive Writing

With Miss Edgerton i have been doing persuisive writing, in the class room the whole class is doing persuisive writing and it is fun.Persuisive writing has been really fun over the last couple of days, we started it out on our plan our plan had to have agood description about how we were going to wright our story's once we had finished our plans we went on to writing our story's in our books some of us   have nearly finished in our books and will be going on to publishing our story and they are going to be amazing.
